🧠 Grammar / Strategy Focus
Adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never) typically appear before the main verb but after the verb “to be” (“The keynote speaker is usually introduced by the host”). Adverbs of degree (extremely, quite, fairly, very) usually appear directly before the adjective or adverb they modify (“The venue was extremely crowded”). Placing an adverb between a verb and its object is a common TOEIC Part 5 error: “She reviewed carefully the agenda” is incorrect; it should be “She carefully reviewed the agenda.”
